Description

Diprovate® Plus Cream is manufactured by Avalon Pharma. This is a topical medication used to relieve irritation, swelling, and itching caused by various corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. Diprovate® Plus Cream contains Betamethasone Dipropionate and Zinc Sulphate as active ingredients. Betamethasone Dipropionate is a synthetic corticosteroid of glucocorticoid class. It has strong immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties. Zinc Sulphate in an inorganic hydrate essential for healthy cells growth. Topical Zinc Sulfate acts as an immunomodulatory agent, which decreases inflammation and contributes to wound-healing processes in the skin.

Indications:

Diprovate® Plus Cream is indicated to alleviate swelling, irritation, redness, and itchiness associated with:

- atopic eczema (atopic dermatitis)

- seborrheic dermatitis

- contact dermatitis

- psoriasis

- allergic reactions

MOA (mechanism of action):

Betamethasone Dipropionate is a corticosteroid hormone receptor agonist with immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory activities. It activates the inhibitory proteins of phospholipase A2 and prevents the release of inflammatory mediators in the body, such as histamine, eicosanoids, prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines. By these actions, Betamethasone Dipropionate reduces inflammation and autoimmune reactions. Betamethasone Dipropionate is found superior if used alongside topical Zinc Sulfate.

Zink Sulphate has anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, and soothing properties. It prevents the release of keratinocyte-associated markers of inflammation and reduces the secretion of histamine, an essential inducer of itching. It also causes re-epithelialization of partial thickness wounds and second-degree burns.

Dosage

Diprovate® Plus Cream is for external use only. Do not apply to your eyes, mouth, inside of the nose, private parts, and any other mucosal surface.

For the face: Apply Diprovate® Plus Cream twice daily for 5 days. Consult your doctor regarding the further use of Diprovate® Plus Cream.

If your face skin condition has not improved after 5 days of treatment, stop using Diprovate® Plus Cream and seek medical advice.

For the body: Apply Diprovate® Plus Cream twice daily for 2 weeks. Consult your doctor regarding the further use of Diprovate® Plus Cream.

If your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment, stop using Diprovate® Plus Cream and seek medical advice.

How to use Diprovate® Plus Cream:

1. Wash your hands and the affected area with mild soap or cleanser, pat dry.

2. Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected areas.

3. Rub gently until absorbed.

4. Wash your hands after the cream application.

Precautions

Do not stop using Diprovate® Plus Cream suddenly after you have noticed the improvements of your skin condition. Consult your doctor on how to gradually stop the use of Diprovate® Plus Cream.

Do not cover the cream application site with an occlusive bandage or other covering.

Do not use Diprovate® Plus Cream on your face longer than 5 days.

Do not use Diprovate® Plus Cream on your body longer than 2 weeks.

Do not use Diprovate® Plus Cream more than 2 times a day.

Do not apply Diprovate® Plus Cream to open wounds or burns.

Missing a dose

If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose.

Overdose

Do not exceed the doctor's recommended dose. If an overdose occurs and you are feeling unwell, you should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Storage

Store at a room temperature from 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F) away from moisture and heat. Throw away the tube after the expiration date. Keep away from children.

Side effects

The most common side effects associated with the use of Diprovate® Plus Cream are:

  • allergic reactions
  • redness
  • stinging or burning sensation
  • blistering
  • peeling
  • skin rash
  • dryness of the skin
  • folliculitis
  • excessive hair growth
  • reduced skin pigmentation
  • thinning of the skin
  • red marks

Side effects occurrence does not only depend on the medication you are using, but also on your overall health and other factors.

Contraindications

Do not apply Diprovate® Plus Cream if you are allergic to Betamethasone Dipropionate or Zinc Sulphate.

Do not apply Diprovate® Plus Cream if you have a history of severe allergic reactions associated with the use of glucocorticoids.

Do not apply Diprovate® Plus Cream if you are allergic to any of the other ingredients comprised in Diprovate® Plus Cream.

Do not use Diprovate® Plus Cream if you have rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis, genital itching, nappy rash, cold sores, chickenpox, shingles or other skin infections.

Do not use Diprovate® Plus Cream if you have thinning of the skin, tuberculosis, measles, a positive TB skin test, or have recently been vaccinated.

Do not apply Diprovate® Plus Cream if you have fungal, yeast, or viral skin lesions.

Do not use a large amount of Diprovate® Plus Cream continuously on large areas of the body as it may affect your hormones.

Do not use Diprovate® Plus Cream in patients under 13 years old.

Do not use the Diprovate® Plus Cream if it has already expired.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant. Diprovate® Plus Cream should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.

Do not combine breastfeeding and Diprovate® Plus Cream usage without your doctor’s approval.

Q: Can I treat acne with Diprovate® Plus Cream?

A: No. You should not apply Diprovate® Plus Cream to the acne-prone skin, as it could make your acne worse.
