About Canesten® Cream

Rating of sales:

Description

Canesten® Cream is manufactured by Bayer Zydus Pharma. This is a topical treatment for fungal skin infections in a cream formulation. Due to its anti-pruritic and anti-inflammatory properties, Canesten® Cream also relieves skin irritation, itching, and other unpleasant symptoms of fungal infections.

Canesten® Cream contains a key ingredient called Clotrimazole, this is an antimycotic agent from the azole class of medications. Depending on concentration, Clotrimazole can be fungicidal or fungistatic.

Indications:

- athlete’s foot;

- ringworm of the skin;

- external thrush of the vulva or penis;

- nail fungus (tinea unguium);

- jock itch;

- dermatomycosis furfuracea (tinea versicolor, pityriasis versicolor or tinea flava);

- fungal nappy rash;

- fungal sweat rash;

- onychomycosis (ringworm of the nail).

MOA (mechanism of action):

Clotrimazole is an antifungal medicine effective against most strains of Epidermophyton, Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Candida. It is also active against many gram-positive bacteria.

Clotrimazole kills the infection by disrupting the membrane of fungal cells. Binding to phospholipids in the fungal cell membrane, Clotrimazole inhibits the biosynthesis of its main component called ergosterol. With the lack of ergosterol, fungal cells become more permeate and weak in structure, which results in the fungal cells dying.
